According to Billboard.com, eights songs of the top 10 titles on this week's Hard Rock Digital Songs are by Scott Weiland's former bands STONE TEMPLE PILOTS (six) and VELVET REVOLVER (two). The top-performing track, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' "Plush", registered a gain of 1,405 percent from 1,000 sold last week to 18,000 downloads sold this week. STP's "Interstate Love Song" sold 14,000 (up 1,447 percent),followed by "Creep" with 9,000 sold (up 1,192 percent). "Fall To Pieces", the top-selling track from VELVET REVOLVER sold 8,000 downlaods (up 2,512 percent).

On the album front, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' 2003 greatest-hits set "Thank You" re-entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 47, up by 1,787 percent to 17,000 equivalent album units. The group's 1993 debut "Core" also re-entered, at No. 145 (7,000, up 530 percent),marking its first appearance on the chart in slightly more than 20 years.

Weiland, who has had a long history of drug problems, arrests and stints in rehab, was found dead on his tour bus on December 3 at the age of 48. The suspected cause of death is cardiac arrest, although an official report has yet to be released.

A small amount of cocaine was found on the bus and Tommy Black, bassist for Scott's band THE WILDABOUTS, was arrested for possession.

Both STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and VELVET REVOLVER issued statements on his passing, while musicians and fans around the world have also posted tributes.
